INFORMATION SCIENCES
Associate Professor Bharat Mehra and Associate Professor Donna Braquet’s (UT Libraries) paper, “Marriage between participatory leadership and action research to advocate benefits equality for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender People: An extended human rights role in library and information science,” was published in the Leadership in academic libraries today: Connecting theory to practice, edited by B. Eden and J. Fagan and published by Scarecrow Press.
Assistant Professor Devendra Potnis and his co-author, Lakshmi Mohan of the University of Albany, had their paper, “Mobile banking for the unbanked poor without mobile phones: Comparing three innovative mobile banking services in India,” accepted for presentation at the 48th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences – Information and Communication Technologies for Developing Countries minitrack.
Potnis and his co-authors, Mohan and Paul Miesing of the University of Albany, had their paper, “Potential of analytics for scaling social enterprises,” accepted for presentation at the 11th annual Social Entrepreneurship Conference organized by the Stern School of Business–NYU and Northeastern University.
Assistant Professor Carolyn Hank and her co-authors’, C. Sugimoto, A. Tsou (Ind. U. – Bloomington) and J. Pomerantz (UNC-Chapel Hill), article, “Faculty and student interactions on Facebook: Policies, preferences and practices,” is in press with Information Technology.
JOURNALISM AND ELECTRONIC MEDIA
Assistant Professor Amber Roessner will do a reading and book signing of her book, Inventing Baseball Heroes, at 6 p.m. on September 18 at Union Ave. Bookstore, 517 Union Avenue, in Knoxville. For background on Roessner and her book, see http://tntoday.utk.edu/?s=roessner.
Roessner’s article, “‘Sixteen Days of Glory’: A critical-cultural analysis of Bud Greenspan’s official Olympic documentaries,” was published in Communication, Culture & Critique 7(3), 338-355.
