COMMUNICATION STUDIES

Stephanie Kelly (PhD/C&I ’12), Assistant Professor Laura Miller, and PhD candidates Betsy Dalton and Scott Eldredge’s manuscript,”Health information behavior: An initial validity portfolio for active and passive measures,” accepted for publication in Communication Research Reports.

 

INFORMATION SCIENCES

Associate Director and Associate Professor Suzie Allard will present her talk, “The ABC2 s of science data: Access, big data, culture & communication,” at TEDxUTK on Feb. 22.  The event will be held at the Howard H. JOURNALISM AND ELECTRONIC MEDIA

On Jan. 31, Professor Mark Harmon surprised his “little brother” Levi Lacey by arranging for Levi to be the puck dropper at the start of that evening’s Knoxville Ice Bears game.  WBIR-TV documented the surprise, http://www.wbir.com/videos/life/2014/02/06/5267551/.   Mark and Levi have been matched in the Big Brothers program for the last nine years.  Levi is a senior at Gibbs High School and plans to attend Middle Tennessee State University in the fall.

 

Assistant Professor Amber Roessner will serve as moderator for a panel on “Remembering Ida B. Wells-Barnett” at the 2014 AJHA/AEJMC Joint Journalism & Communication History Conference to be held in New York on Mar. 8.
