Faculty News: Avery, Rightler-McDaniels and Roessner

Avery, Rightler-McDaniels, RoessnerAdvPR Associate Professor Beth Avery received $5,000 in funding from the UT Professional Development Awards Committee for her project, “Audience response to crisis information and directives as predictors of recovery.”

Fourth-year C&I doctoral candidate Jodi Rightler-McDaniels and JEM Assistant Professor Amber Roessner won the J. William Snorgrass Memorial Award for Most Outstanding Paper on a Minorities Topic for their paper, “‘Beyond celebration [but] worth remembering’: Anniversary coverage surrounding Jack Johnson and the ‘Fight of the Century.'” They presented the paper at the annual meeting of the American Journalism Historians Association (AJHA) in New Orleans Sept. 26 – 28.
