Associate Professor Michael Palenchar and Robert Heath (University of Houston) are guest speakers next week at the International Conference on Crisis Communication in Erfurt, Germany. Their presentation is entitled, “Paradigms of international risk and crisis communication in the 21st century.” The German Research Foundation (DFG) is partially supporting the costs of their travel.



C&I Doctoral student Katie Reno and her co-authors have a forthcoming article, “If you are quick enough, I will think about it: Information speed and trust in public health organizations,” that is being published in Computers in Human Behavior



Associate Professor Suzie Allard was invited by the Howard H. Baker, Jr. Center for Public Policy to be a panelist on their Constitution Day Panel Discussion.  The topic was “Fourth Amendment-Search and Seizure.”  The three other panelists were: UT Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Professor Michael Berry;  Center for Intelligent Systems & Machine Learning Director Brandon Prins (who is also an Associate Professor in the UT Political Science Department); and Law Professor Glenn Reynolds. 



JEM Assistant Professor Amber Roessner and her co-authorsarticle, “A measure of theory: Considering the role of theory in media history,” was published in the Summer 2013 issue of American Journalism (30)2: 260-278.

Roessner also had her co-authored paper, “‘Beyond celebration [but] worth remembering’: Anniversary coverage surrounding Jack Johnson and the ‘Fight of the Century,’” accepted for presentation at the American Journalism Historians Association conference being held in  New Orleans, La., Sept. 2013.  This refereed paper, was co-authored with C&I Doctoral Student Jodi McDaniels-Rightler.

Roessner’s first book, Inventing Baseball Heroes: Ty Cobb, Christy Mathewson, and the Sporting Press in America, will be released by LSU Press in spring 2014.
