Association Professor Lisa Fall, Stephanie Kelly (PhD/C&I ’12) (North Carolina A&T State) and doctoral student Scott Christen’s (Tennessee Tech.) paper, “Instructional immediacy and online learner sex,” has been accepted for publication in Academic Exchange Quarterly, 17(3). Online:



Professor Dania Bilal presented her paper, “Readability of text retrieved by search engines on children’s search queries: The case of Google,”at the Qualitative and Quantitative Methods in Libraries International Conference, held on June 3-7 in Rome, Italy.

Bilal also has a research paper “in press,” “Comparing Google’s readability of search results to the Flesch Readability Formulae: A preliminary analysis on children’s search queries.” The paper will appear in the proceedings of the 76th Annual Meeting of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T). The Meeting will be held in Montreal, Canada from November 1-5. Bilal will also serve as an invited speaker on a ASIS&T panel on “Enabling systems for inquiry-based learning.”  Her talk for the panel is titled, “Designing emotionally intelligent virtual agents to enable understanding of children’s information needs.”      

Chancellor’s Professor Carol Tenopir, Associate Professor Suzie Allard and Post-doctoral Research Associate Miriam Davis attended the IAALD13 (International Association of Agriculture Information Specialists 2013 World Congress) at Cornell’s Mann Library July 22 – 24 to present their paper, “Agriculture and natural resource scientists’ biodiversity information needs:  Barriers and facilitators to use and access in the US Southeast.”
