Jackie DelpilarJacqueline DelPilar is a JEM major and recipient of the Scripps Howard Foundation Wire internship.  The interns work in Washington, D.C., just blocks from the White House.  They report and write a variety of stories and get to meet experts at key Washington posts to better understand how to cover the news.
Adam MoussaJEM graduates have built a strong tradition in landing at top media organizations, and master’s candidate Adam Moussa is among the School’s most recent success stories.
The Tennessee native recently accepted a position at ESPN where he will serve as a Digital Media Associate at the media giant’s headquarters in Bristol, Conn.
ESPN received more than 1,000 applications for the four available positions and flew 12 finalists to Bristol in May for a final round of interviews. Moussa was selected for the prestigious position by a panel of four ESPN executives.
The Digital Media Associate is a 12-month rotational position in which the associates work with ESPN.com’s multiple content platforms, including mobile, video, social and creative design. Moussa will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including coordinating with the editorial staff on news/events/highlights, covering the multimedia production assistant desk, editing and preparing video for ESPN.com, working with teams on preparing and sending ESPN’s Breaking News Alerts, generating story ideas, and supporting senior ESPN.com staff on projects specific to the Digital Media function.
Moussa is in the final stages of his master’s degree in journalism and electronic media and plans to graduate in August. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Memphis in 2012.  His portfolio is available at http://akmoussa.weebly.com/index.html.
