Music Journalist Chet Flippo Dies

Chet FlippoChet Flippo died at the age of 69 in Nashville June 19 after a lengthy illness.
He served as a journalism lecturer at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville for three years beginning in 1991.  Flippo worked for Rolling Stone magazine in the early years of the publication beginning in 1974. He went on to write several books, worked for Billboard and finally for CMT.  His fellow journalists and friends on the staff of CMT.com have posted a story about Flippo’s contributions to the music industry and to journalism on their website.
Retired journalism professor Paul Ashdown remembers Flippo as “a wonderful guy.”
