CCI’s Spring Commencement took place on May 9 marking the end of another academic year. The more than 300 graduates in attendance received an inspirational send off from UT highlighted by the commencement address given by Monica Langley (BS/JEM ’80), senior special writer for the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), who shared her three guiding principles: people, persistence, and passion. JEM Grad Injured in Afghanistan Attack
On April 6, Kelly Hunt (MS/C&I ’08), a public diplomacy officer with the U.S. State Department, was severely injured in a suicide bombing in Afghanistan. The deadly attack, which killed six people including U.S. diplomat Anne Smedinghoff, took place when Hunt and her group were walking from a military base to deliver books to a nearby school.
