Carroll Named to National Academy of Sciences Board on Research Data & Information

Bonnie CarrollBonnie C. Carroll, Founder and CEO of Information International Associates, Inc. (IIa), has been appointed as a member of the National Academy of Sciences Board on Research Data and Information (BRDI). BRDI’s  mission is “to improve the stewardship, policy, and use of digital data and information for science and the broader society.” Ms. Carroll will be serving ex officio in her capacity as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Council for Science, Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA).
The Board on Research Data and Information “was created to develop and oversee a program of studies and other activities at the National Research Council (NRC) related to the management, policy, and use of digital data and information for science and the broader society.” The board surveys the field and proposes possible initiatives for the NRC in the interests of its sponsors.
Carroll is the current Chair of the CCI Board of Visitors. She has also served on the Advisory Board of the college’s School of Information Sciences (SIS).  “As the primary agency for providing leadership in stewarding vision, policy and application of digital data for information science, this appointment significantly advances the research agenda for CCI and in particular SIS.  I am thrilled about this announcement and want to add my congratulations to Bonnie,” said Ed Cortez, director and professor of SIS.
