The Usability & Assessment and Sociocultural Working Groups of the NSF-funded Data Observation Network for Earth (DataONE) Project met Apr. 30 to May 2, 2013 in the Scripps Convergence Lab. DataONE working groups concentrate the intellectual efforts of a team of experts during intense one week meetings resulting in collaborative outcomes to achieve the DataONE goals. These experts represent the University of Tennessee, Oak Ridge National Lab, and a host of other universities, government agencies, and research centers. The Usability and Assessment Working Group Co-Leaders are Carol Tenopir (CCI-SIS) and Mike Frame (USGS, SIS Adjunct). The Sociocultural Working Co-Leaders are Suzie Allard and Kimberly Douglass (CCI-SIS). DataONE is a sustainable cyberinfrastructure that meets the needs of science and society for open, persistent, robust, and secure access to well-described and easily discovered Earth observational data, for more information:



Professor Rob Heller’s work has been selected for the juried photography exhibition, “I’ll Be Your Mirror.” The exhibit will be held at the 1650 Gallery in Los Angeles this summer

WUTK’s new Underwriting and Digital Media Sales Director is Tony Farina (BS/JEM ’91; MS/C&I ’07)).   As a UTK undergraduate student, he worked at WUTK-AM (All News 850) and WUTK-FM (New Rock 90).   From 1991 to 2003, he worked as an on-air personality, a promotions dept. assistant, a sound production dept. producer, and a radio program producer for WIMZ, WJXB, WOKI, WXVO, WIVK, and WNOX.  He was an ad sales rep. for WOKI 100.3 The River between 2001 and 2003. 
   Tony returned to UTK in 2004 as WUTK’s graduate assistant creating 90.3 The Rock’s current Underwriting Department.  After graduating with his M.S., he moved to Atlanta and worked for Cellular Sales, selling Verizon phone and wireless internet services.
