UT Social Media Week 2013 (UTSMW) was a great success! The high-value sessions featured 20 social media professionals, including a number of CCI alums, that graciously shared their social media expertise and knowledge. 

Assistant Professor Courtney Childers (AdvPR), chaired the UTSMW Program Planning Committee which included: Suzie Allard (IS), Paul Domingo (AdvPR master’s student), Elizabeth Hendrickson (JEM), John McNair (CCI), Laura Miller (CS), the late Margie Morrison (AdvPR), Patrick Powell (CCI), Karen Robinette (CCI), Donna Silvey (CCI), and Sharon Toedte (AdvPR).

UTSMW 2013 was made possible through funding from UTSMW founding donors Adam Brown (BS/AdvPR ’94 and current CCI BOV member) and Ed Patterson (BS/JEM ’89 and emeritus CCI BOV member). Additional sponsors of the week included: Calhoun’s, Coca Cola, Latitude 35, and WBIR-TV.

• Attendance across the week’s events totaled 718.

• The panel sessions were all streamed live and are available at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/utsmw. To date, there have been 208 views of UTSMW sessions on the official ustream channel.  

• UTSMW has a total of 222 likes on Facebook, with weekly reach at approximately 4,700, and 55 followers on Instagram, a social media platform new to UTSMW 2013. There are also 371 followers of @utsmw on Twitter, with the event hashtag #utsmw having well over 500 mentions on Twitter. UTSMW also received two tweets from UT President Joe Dipietro.

• UTSMW was covered in two Knoxville News Sentinel stories and in a Daily Beacon front page story. In addition, coverage was provided by WBIR and WATE.

While they were in town for UTSMW, several CCI alumni also recorded testimonial videos about how their UT education has impacted their post-college success. These videos will soon be available in the CCI Video Library: http://www.cci.utk.edu/cci-videos
