2 New IMLS Grants Funded

Drs. Suzie Allard and Ed CortezThe Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) announced funding for two new projects through CCI’s Center for Information and Communication Studies. 

(1) Suzie Allard, CICS acting director and SIS associate professor, and co-PI Bruce Wilson of ORNL and SIS were awarded a $49,070 Collaborative Planning Grant entitled, “The Cybersecurity for Science Information (CSI): Developing Workforce Proficiency Project” that will build a collaboration between UT/ORNL/University of New Mexico Library/Los Alamos National Laboratory for filling the critical workforce need for cybersecurity experts.   

(2) Ed Cortez, SIS professor and director, and co-PI Beth Ponder of the UT Center for Literacy, Education and Employment received a $189,416 grant for, “Library Anchor Models for Bridging Diversity Achievements (LAMBDA).” The project team working on this grant comes from UT’s School of Information Sciences, San Diego County Libraries and other public libraries in California and Tennessee.
