Alumni News: De Vega, Sheehan

Anne de VegaAnne de Vega (MS/C&I ’92) has been promoted to Vice President of CBS On-Air Promotion.  She had been Director of CBS On-Air Promotion since 2010, working on on-air campaigns on behalf of NCIS, CSI, CSI NY, Blue Bloods and Vegas. She originally joined CBS in 1992 working as a promotion producer at CBS-owned stations WCCO-TV, Minneapolis, (1992-1994) and KCBS-TV, Los Angeles (1994-1996).  She began her CBS career as a writer/producer in 1996 and was promoted to senior writer/producer in 2003 and executive producer in 2007. She is the recipient of numerous honors including a 2010 Writers Guild of America Award and Promax Gold Awards.
Kim SheehanKim Sheehan (PhD/C&I ‘98) has been selected as a Society for New Communications Research Fellow for 2013.  Sheehan is professor and director of the Master’s Program in Strategic Communication at the University of Oregon (UO) School of Journalism and Communication.  She is the first University of Oregon scholar to be selected for this honor. The Society for New Communications Research is a global nonprofit research and education foundation and think tank focused on the advanced study of new and emerging communication tools and technologies and their effect on business, culture, and society. The research study Sheehan will conduct during her year as a fellow will examine whether online social capital can stop the spiral of silence.  Sheehan is the current president of the American Academy of Advertising and held leadership positions at advertising agencies in Boston, Chicago and St. Louis prior to joining the UO SOJC faculty in 1998. Her research involves culture and new technology, and she has published extensively about social media, online privacy, green advertising, advertising ethics, and direct-to-consumer prescription drug advertising.
