Assistant Professors Jonathan Pettigrew and Laura Miller have partnered with Department of Public Health Associate Professors Laurie Meschke (PI) and Clea McNeely, , to conduct a systematic review of the social aspects of adolescent non-medical use of prescription drugs. The study will be funded by a $3,000 grant from the Risk, Health, and Crisis Communication Research Unit, which is housed in the College and led by AdvPR Associate Professors Michael Palenchar and Beth Avery. The study aims to lay the groundwork for future investigation into social and familial issues surrounding adolescent prescription drug abuse in rural East Tennessee. 



Chancellor’s Professor Carol Tenopir is in Boston attending the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) where she is being inducted as an AAAS Fellow.

Doctoral student Frances Nichols and Professor Ed Cortez’s paper, “Breaking Down the Barriers: Creating Empathetic Ontologies for the LAMBDA Initiative,” will be published in the March edition of Journal of Tennessee Libraries.  

Assistant Professors Rachel Fleming-May and Kimberly Douglass had their article, “Framing Librarianship in the Academy: an Analysis Using Bolman and Deal’s Model of Organizations,” accepted for publication in College & Research Libraries.

Douglass was also named UT’s QUEST Scholar of the Week.
