CCI in Sports: Satkowiak, Elliott, Andrew

Tom SatkowiakThomas Satkowiak- Associate Media Relations Director, University of Tennessee Men’s Basketball
Tom Satkowiak is entering his fifth year directing the media relations efforts of the Tennessee men’s basketball program. He has been a member of UT’s full-time staff since September 2005.
A native of Bay City, Mich., Satkowiak transitioned to basketball after four years with the Vols’ baseball program, during which he publicized the team’s run to the 2005 College World Series and promoted 11  players who earned All-America or Freshman All-America acclaim.
Satkowiak oversaw the basketball program’s media relations efforts during the historic 2009-10 season, in which Tennessee advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in the program’s 101-year history.
After initially joining Tennessee’s media relations staff as a student in the fall of 2002, Satkowiak spent two years as a graduate assistant in the UT office before being promoted to a full-time position. He served as editor of the Tennessee football game program and yearbook from 2005-10.
He published his “50 Twitter Tips for Division I Student-Athletes” in the summer of 2011, and athletic departments around the country have since used the document as a social media training tool for their student-athletes, coaches and administrators.
A 2002 summa cum laude Tennessee graduate with a degree in communications/public relations, Satkowiak also earned a master’s in sport studies in 2005 from UT.
Satkowiak and his wife, Brooke, reside in west Knoxville with their 3-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog, Crockett.
Nathan ElliotNathan Elliott- Director of Promotions and Game Ops, Knoxville Ice Bears
Nathan Elliott is the Director of Promotions and Game Ops at Knoxville Ice Bears.   He attended the University of Tennessee where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management.
Nathan is entering into his 4th season with the Knoxville Ice Bears (one as a Fan Relations intern, one as full time/head intern, and one as Director of Promotions and Game Operations). He works every day to make the organization better with unique promotion ideas & follow through, ensuring quality and smooth game operations (off the ice anyways!), and continuing to build our outstanding corporate partner and season ticket holder bases.
Morgan AndrewMorgan Andrew- Social Media Coordinator, Atlanta Falcons NFL
Morgan Andrew is the social media coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. She attended the University of Georgia, where she obtained a degree in Advertising.
Morgan began working with the Falcons in the summer of 2011 as a marketing seasonal assistant. She worked closely with the Director of Event Marketing as well as the Director of Digital Media throughout the 2011 season. She worked on various projects and events, including the Rise Up 2.0 commercial. From there, she was hired as the social media coordinator for the Falcons, where she manages and maintains the Falcons’ presence on various social media platforms.
With nearly 1 million Facebook fans, and close to 200,000 Twitter followers, Morgan’s focus is engagement with Atlanta Falcons fans through their presence on these platforms. The Falcons official Facebook page is ranked #1 in the NFL in follower count growth over the past two seasons and also maintains a consistent top-ten ranking in the NFL for Facebook’s “Talking About” metric.
Prior to the 2012 season, she was able to create many new social platforms to expand the Falcons’ social presence. She also works closely with the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders program managing their social presence. Follow her on Twitter @FalconsMorgan.
