National Award for Samoray & $20K Grant for Smith and Ruffin

BeckmanChris Samoray, a graduate assistant in Journalism and Electronic Media, received a national award from the Beckman Initiative for Macular Research.  He will travel–all expenses paid–to the organization’s annual conference in Irvine, California January 24 – 26, 2013 to write stories about research breakthroughs in treating macular degeneration under the mentorship of Barbara Culliton, a distinguished medical writer.  Only seven students nationwide were chosen for this honor and opportunity.
