CCI hosted a Homecoming barbecue and open house for alumni immediately prior to UT’s Homecoming game with Troy on Nov. 13.
The open house featured a tour of several recently created/renovated spaces within the Communications Building including: the Scripps Convergence Lab, the CCI Auditorium, the BB&T/Martha S. Wallen Classroom of the Future, the Peyton Manning Classroom, the Communication Studies Message Effects Lab, the CCI/ORNL User Experience Lab and the JEM Converged Newsroom. In addition, renderings of spaces about to be renovated, the CCI Lobby and the CCI Patio, were shared with tour participants.
The CCI Development team of Patrick Powell, Karen Robinette and Greg Dowell greeted attendees along with CCI Dean Mike Wirth and his wife, Alice, and CCI Associate Dean Catherine Luther. The event was catered by Sweet P’s Barbeque and Soul House. “We will continue to look for new ways to engage our alumni and welcome them to campus at every opportunity,” said Powell. “We have several more exciting projects on the drawing board for our educational facilities and look forward to showing them to our alums when they are completed. Folks need to remember to keep their contact information current with UT by submitting any changes to their address, phone numbers or email addresses to http://www.cci.utk.edu/webform/keep-touch.”
