The top communicator for the National Football League (NFL) was the featured speaker at the CCI School of Advertising and Public Relations’ PR Day, October 19 at the UT Conference Center. Paul Hicks, the NFL’s executive vice president of communications, delivered the Ackermann PR Keynote Lecture at the event, which attracted almost 200 attendees. 2012 Dwayne Summar Essay Contest Winners Announced
The winners of the 2012 Dwayne Summar Essay Contest were announced at PR Day on Oct. 10. The winners were: Kayla Witt (1st Place), Hannah Zehring (2nd place) and Caroline Hurd (3rd place). Witt and Zehring are juniors and Hurd is a senior, all are majoring in public relations at UTK. Read more

Digitization of Tennessee Newspapers Continues
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) grant funding the Tennessee Digital Newspaper Project (TDNP) has been extended for two more years. The goal of the University of Tennessee and the Tennessee State Library and Archives (TSLA) project, which began in 2011, is to digitize more than 100,000 pages of Tennessee’s microfilmed newspapers dating from 1836 to 1922.
