UT PR Day to Feature NFL Communicator, Local PR Pros
The top communicator for the National Football League (NFL) will be the featured speaker at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s PR Day, October 19 at the UT Conference Center on Henley Street. Paul Hicks, the NFL’s executive vice president of communications, will deliver the Ackermann PR Keynote Lecture at the event. Hicks was hired to manage the football league’s communications in 2010, and previously spent eight years as a regional CEO of the Ogilvy public relations firm. Read more

CCI Launches New Web Site
CCI launched a new website at the end of September, which features a new look with greater functionality and responsive design features to allow the website to be viewed on a variety of user devices. The site also incorporates UT Knoxville’s “Big Orange, Big Ideas” campaign, to provide the website with a new look that is consistent with UT-branded materials. Read more

DINNER HONORS CCI SCHOLARSHIP DONORS
The annual CCI Scholarship Donor Appreciation Dinner was held Sept. 21 at the Knoxville Holiday Inn World’s Fair Park. Several CCI scholarship recipients attended the event, and many were able to meet their benefactors face-to-face for the first time. Read more
BOV PROVIDES ENTHUSIASTIC SUPPORT
The fall meeting of CCI’s Board of Visitors on Sept. 21 and 22 generated creative ideas, enthusiastic engagement and lively discussion about the College’s future. Led by BOV Chair Bonnie Carroll, the board received a briefing from CCI School and program directors and from student leaders. CCI Dean Mike Wirth provided a state of the College update, answered questions and collected valuable input from the lively discussions. Read more
SINGH’S RESEARCH LEADS TO NEW OPEN SOURCE INTEGRATED LIBRARY SYSTEM WEBSITE
Thanks to SIS Assistant Professor Vandana Singh and her research team, a new Open Source Integrated Library Systems (ILS) website was launched earlier this month. The website offers libraries the chance to control their data, customize their software and choose from multiple support sources. It seeks to be a key starting point for librarians who are new to OSS ILS. Read more
