Associate Professor and Associate Director Suzie Allard presented a paper, “Environmental researchers’ data practices: An exploratory study in Turkey” with co-author Arsev Aydinoglu (NASA) (Ph.D. ’11) at the 3rd International Symposium on Information Management in a Changing World at Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey.  This paper was supported by funding from the Dean’s Summer Research Fund.  

Allard was also an invited panelist at the Data Curation Profiles Symposium held at Purdue University in LaFayette, Ind.  She spoke on the use of data curation profiles in education and participated in the invitation-only roundtable discussing the future of this tool.  The symposium was funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.  


Director and Professor Peter Gross was the keynote speaker at the Polish Communication Association conference in Gdansk, Poland. His presentation, “The limits of transformation: CEE media and the path to democracy and European integration,” took place at the conference center at the now-famous Gdansk Shipyards where Lech Walesa helped start the Solidarity movement.

Professor Mark Harmon’s latest book, Media Money Myths, is available now from Amazon, “The book challenges the everyday misconceptions we get from mass media about money and our lives.”
