Peyton Manning Visits His Classroom

Manning in the ClassroomOn Friday, April 20, Peyton Manning (BA / CS ’97 and 2007 recipient of CCI’s Hileman Distinguished Alumni Award) returned to Knoxville to be the keynote speaker at a banquet celebrating the successful conclusion of the Campaign for Tennessee. As part of his return to campus, Manning stopped by the College of Communication and Information to visit with CCI Dean Mike Wirth and School of Communication Studies Director John Haas and had his picture taken in the Peyton Manning Classroom.

Manning, Wirth, HaasWhile he was in the Communications Building, Manning also recorded a video for the UTK Office of Communications in which he shared his “big idea” as part of UTK’s Big Orange/Big Ideas campaign. Manning’s big idea focused on his decision to establish the Peyback Foundation and all the people that have been helped through the foundation’s programs. According to the studio crew, Manning was the first person to share his “big idea” on the first take, which is not surprising given his outstanding presentation skills and poise under pressure.
