Greenberg: Newest Hileman Award Winner
Alan N. Greenberg, former publisher of Esquire magazine and creator of many successful online and traditional media and interactive business services, was honored with CCI’s 2010 Donald G. Hileman Distinguished Alumni Award. The award was presented last week at the CCI alumni reception in Atlanta. Visit “Greenburg” for the full story.

ADVERTISING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS

Taylor, Lee paper accepted by Journal of Services Marketing
“A Strategic Response to the Financial Crisis: An Empirical Analysis of Financial Services Advertising Before and During the Financial Crisis,” by advertising doctoral student Taejun Lee, University of Louisiana at Lafayette assistant professor Wonjun Chung, and Professor and School Director Ron Taylor has been accepted for publication by the Journal of Services Marketing.

Palenchar to conduct workshop
Assistant Professor Michael J. Palenchar will conduct a web conference workshop on crisis communication next week for communication and business graduate students at Tecnologico de Monterrey University, Mexico.

INFORMATION SCIENCES

Allard is appointed discussion leader and co-authors paper for Health Comm.
Associate Professor Suzie Allard was appointed by the hosts of the WebWise conference, Institute of Library and Museum Services, to serve as a Table Topic discussion leader for the topic “Libraries, Museums, and Science Data.” WebWise was held in Denver, Colorado, March 3-5.

Additionally, Allard’s co-authored paper, “In-depth Investigation of Interpersonal Discussions in Response to a Safer Sex Mass Media Campaign,” has been accepted by Health Communication.  Her co-authors from the University of Kentucky are Don Helme, Seth Noar, and Philip Palmgreen. Additional authors are Rick Zimmerman from the University of Virginia and UT doctoral student Kitty McClanahan.

JOURNALISM AND ELECTRONIC MEDIA

Harmon paper accepted for Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly
Associate Professor Mark Harmon’s research paper, “Political Economy on the Picket Line: U.S. Network Television News and Strikes” is accepted for a forthcoming edition of Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly. His co-author is his former research assistant, Dr. Shu-Yueh Lee, now an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh.
