 CCI Diversity and Inclusion Week will kick off with a keynote speech, “Determined to Reach Your Destiny,” from Joetta Clark Diggs on Monday, September 19, at McClung Museum Auditorium. Diggs is a four-time Olympian, president of Joetta Sports & Beyond, LLC, executive director of the Joetta Clark Diggs Sports Foundation, a CCI alumna and the daughter of Jetta and Dr. Joe Clark, portrayed in the movie “Lean on Me.”



Michael Palenchar, associate professor, acted as an associate guest editor, along with Maureen Taylor, University of Oklahoma, and guest editor Robert Heath, University of Houston, for the current issue of Management Communication Quarterly. The theme of the special edition is external organizational rhetoric. MCQ’s 2010 impact factor is 1.109, up from .848 in 2009. MCQ is now ranked 16th out of 67 rated communication journals.

Michael Palenchar, associate professor, along with Karen Freberg  (PhD ’11), University of Louisville, and Shari Veil, University of Kentucky, had a paper, entitled “Social media bookmarking services: Managing and sharing information from a centralized source,” accepted for publication in Public Relations Review

Tatjana Hocke, doctoral candidate, had two research publications accepted for publication. “Ready or not, here it comes: Disaster preparedness messages on children’s websites,”  in Journal of Children and Media; and “Disaster on the web? A qualitative analysis of disaster preparedness websites for kids,” in PRism. Both articles are co-written with E. Ryan and Karen Hilyard, University of Georgia.

Associate Professor Lisa Fall’s co-written article  – (with S. Kelly and S. Christen),  “Revisiting the impact of instructional immediacy: A differentiation between military and civilians,” will be published in an upcoming issue of Quarterly Review of Distance Education.



Assistant Professor Devendra Potnis’ article, entitled “Folksonomy-based User-centric Information Organization Systems” is being published in the International Journal of Information Studies.
