The 34th Annual CCI Research Symposium, “Leaping Forward in Communication And Information Research,” will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, in the College  Auditorium (321 Communications Building). Deanna Sellnow, Gifford Blyton Endowed Professor of Communication and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Communication at the University of Kentucky, is this year’s keynote speaker.  Papers are due by Dec. 12, 2011, for peer reviewing. Notification of acceptance will be made by mid-January 2012. Submission requirements can be found at



Doctoral student Jodi Rightler-McDaniels will present the paper co-authored with Professor and Associate Dean Catherine Luther, “Narratives of Border-Crossing in the films Monster’s Ball and Lakeview Terrace: Manifestations of Racism and Gender-Bias,” on a National Communication Association panel, Voicing Black Experiences through Mediated Representations, this weekend in New Orleans.



Gerri Littlejohn, who has worked at the University of Tennessee for thirty-two years, will be retiring at the end of this year. Her last day in the office will be Nov. 30.  In lieu of a retirement party, she will be attending CCI’s Holiday Lunch on Nov. 30. Please be sure to wish her well when you see her at the party!
