Lisa Fall has been invited to provide a webinar as part of PRSA’s ongoing professional development seminars for PRSA members. Her presentation, “Using Age to Engage!” will be webcast by Thomson Reuters on Mar. 13 from 11:30-12:30 pm.



Bharat Mehra has been invited to be the Chief Guest and to deliver a keynote address entitled “Growth, opportunities, and challenges facing Indian librarianship to develop a knowledge society in the 21st century: Reflections and insights” at the inauguration of the 57th All India Library Conference, Feb. 23 –25 in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. He will also be presenting a paper entitled “Computer-enabled innovations in the Information Technology Rural Librarian Master’s Scholarship Program: Bridging rural digital divides in the Southern and Central Appalachia” during the conference.

Mehra will also deliver a paper entitled “Extending librarian technology literacy and management training in the rural Southern and Central Appalachia: Curricular development in the ITRL Program,” co-authored with Kimberly Black, Vandana Singh, and Jenna Nolt, during the Annual Conference of the Association for Library and Information Science Education, Jan. 17-20 in Dallas, Texas. The paper received one of four “ALISE 2011 Best Conference Paper Awards.” He is also presenting a paper as part of a panel entitled “Gender and sexual orientation in LIS education: Implications for content delivery to teach youth” at the conference.

 Lorraine Normore had her article “Information needs in a community of reading specialists: What information needs say about contextual frameworks” published in Information Research.



Hubert Smith has agreed to serve on the Board of Directors for Redeeming Hope Ministries. The ministry was highlighted in the most recent edition of SCOOP magazine in the article “Amplified Opportunity,” chronicling the street newspaper, The Amplifier.
