National Communication Association Meeting Papers and Presentations

One additional graduate student, Katie Reno, presented a paper at the 97th Annual Convention of the National Communication Association in New Orleans, Nov. 17-20. The paper, “The effectiveness of the ‘It gets better project,’ an elaboration likelihood model approach,” was co-authored with A. Goddard, S. Spates, and S. Richmond.



Mark your calendar for the SIS-hosted CCI International Lunch on February 24, 2012, 11:30 am to 1 pm. The luncheon will be held in the Black Cultural Center immediately following the CCI Faculty/Staff Meeting.

Doctoral candidate Julie Winkelstein was a panelist at the recent California Library Association Annual Conference in Pasadena, California. The title of the panel presentation was “At Risk: Homeless Youth, Detention Centers and Pregnant Teens.” Winkelstein talked about the role of public libraries in the lives of homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) youth.



Professor Barb Kaye, along with Tom Johnson of the University of Texas, presented their paper  “The Shot Heard Around the World Wide Web: Who Heard What When about Osama bin Laden’s Death” at the Midwest Association for Public Opinion Research conference in Chicago, IL.

Professor Sam Swan is in Nigeria training radio and TV Journalists for the Voice of America.
