ean Mike Wirth announced the appointment of Professor Margaret Morrison to serve as Interim Director of the School of Advertising and Public Relations for 2011-12. She is currently a Professor in the School of Advertising and Public Relations in the College of Communication and Information (CCI) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She joined the faculty of the UTK Department of Advertising in 1995 and earned her Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in 1996. At the undergraduate level, she has taught a number of classes including: media planning, advertising campaigns and advertising and society. At the graduate level, she has taught classes in advertising management and qualitative research. In the College of Communication and Information, she has served as Chair of the Faculty Affairs Committee and served in a leadership position on the ACEJMC Re-Accreditation Self Study Committee. She was recently elected as Vice-president of the American Academy of Advertising, where she has been an active member since the early nineties, also serving as Treasurer and Chair of the Research Committee. Her research has been published in a number of academic journals including: The Journal of Advertising, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Current Issues & Research in Advertising, Journal of Interactive Advertising, American Journal of Public Health, Journal of Public Policy and Marketing and Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media. She is co-author (along with Ron Taylor, Eric Haley and Kim Sheehan) of the second edition of Using Qualitative Research in Advertising: Strategies, Techniques and Applications, which is due out this year. Prior to pursuing an academic career, she worked as an Audience Research Analyst with MTV Networks and served as a consultant for the United States Department of Justice.
