Meeting to Discuss Internships for Students of Color

MEETING TO DISCUSS INTERNSHIPS FOR STUDENTS OF COLOR

The American Association of Advertising Agencies' Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP) offers students of color 10-week paid summer internships at AAAA member advertising agencies across the country.  MAIP is open to students of color who are currently college juniors or seniors or graduate students and who identify their race/ethnicity as one of the following:

         Asian/Asian American
         Black/African American
         American Indian/Native American
         Hispanic/Latino
         Multiethnic/Multiracial

Overall GPA should be 3.0 although students with GPAs from to 2.7 to 2.99 are also encouraged to apply but must complete an additional essay question in the student application. Students in the School of Advertising and Public Relations have had good success with this program in the past, and several have been offered jobs upon graduation by the companies they interned for. School director Dr. Ron Taylor will meet with interested students on Friday, Oct. 23, Noon, in the School of Advertising and Public Relations office to discuss the application process.  Please send an e-mail to adv@utk.edu if you plan to attend the meeting.  More information is available at www.aaaa-maip.org. The application deadline is 5 pm EST December 4, 2009.

Internships are open to both advertising and public relations majors.
