Journalism schools from all over the country have come together to form the Intercollegiate Online News Network, an endeavor headed by James Stovall, the Edward J. Meeman Distinguished Professor at the University of Tennessee's School of Journalism and Electronic Media.
Stovall explained that ICONN's purpose is to serve as an association for college news websites to come together and share their content and ideas. Ultimately, he says the idea is to help develop web journalism in the curriculum of these schools.
The group had its first founders conference here at the University of Tennessee in January. Currently, there are close to 30 members in the network, and Stovall said that it could grow even more this year.
