The Delta Delta Delta sorority at UT will host its annual Tri Delta Golf Classic in November. The sorority hopes to raise money for its philanthropy, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Operation Broken Silence, an organization dedicated to helping save the lives of millions of people affected by genocide, deprivation of clean water and HIV in Africa, is putting on a poker game where the money won goes to those in need.

The Cross is a predominately Greek-life worship service that offers a time to worship God and meet other students in sororities and fraternities that have the similar beliefs. The first gathering will take place Wednesday, Sept. 2.

On Sept. 16, UT Medical Center will be offering free prostate cancer screenings in conjuction with National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. With early detection and proper treatment, men can go on to live healthy lives after prostate cancer.

UT Knoxville welcomes fans to campus this Saturday for the first home football game of the 2009 season. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:21 p.m. for the Volunteers' game against Western Kentucky University. Gates open at 10:15 a.m. ESPN-SEC Sports will televise the game. The university would like to remind visitors to campus about stadium policies and inform them of a few changes to some game day traditions.

The program begins Saturday before the Vols' home opener against Western Kentucky University with "Master Class-less: BeaUTy and the Beats,?"a showcase led by UT Director of Opera Carroll Freeman.

An all day celebration for Labor Day begins Sept. 6 under Henley Street Bridge. This celebration includes family fun: from contests to fireworks.
