On-campus Students in Other Majors
Current University of Tennessee students who are enrolled in other majors but wish to transfer to the School of Advertising and Public Relations should make an appointment with an advisor in the College of Communication and Information Advising Center. The advisor will help the student to determine if he/she is eligible to transfer into the school.
Regardless of overall GPA, on-campus transfer students must have 2.75 GPA or higher in the first-year curriculum and must become eligible to be admitted to the School of Advertising and Public Relations before completing 80 semester hours at the university. Students who do not have the required GPA in the first-year curriculum may be eligible to repeat one or more of the first-year courses in order to achieve the required GPA. On-campus transfer students should be aware that it takes a minimum of four terms to complete the advertising program and a minimum of three semesters to complete the public relations program.
Transfer Students From Other Universities
Students who are enrolled at other universities or colleges must apply for admission to the university and indicate a preference for the College of Communication and Information. Transfer students will be assigned to the College of Communication and Information Advising Center for at least one semester. GPAs do not transfer with students. Transfer students will be considered for admission to the School of Advertising and Public Relations after they have completed the first-year curriculum or its equivalent at another school and have earned a GPA of 2.75 or higher in their first 15 hours of credit at the University of Tennessee.
