Doctoral Students Earn CERC Certification

Public Relations doctoral students Karen Freberg and Tatjana Hocke underwent training at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week in Atlanta to become certified in Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication (CERC).  The program was developed by the CDC and is used to train risk communicators and public health officials across the country. 

PR Professors Part of National Communication Association Conference

Assistant Professors Michael Palenchar and Karen Hilyard are part of a pre-conference workshop on the intersection of risk and crisis communication in relationships at the National Communication Association conference in Chicago next week. Michael and Karen will be leading a breakout workshop on the role of public relations’ research in relationship to risk and crisis communication.

PUBLICIS is a major multinational advertising agency, headquartered in Paris, France. Interviews will be conducted this January during our annual NYC trip.

Mandatory Advising Session

ADVISING FOR SPRING REGISTRATION.  Students who have been fully admitted as either advertising or public relations majors in the School of Advertising and Public Relations should attend a mandatory advising session in order to register for classes for spring semester.  Advising for advertising majors will be held Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 4 p.m.

Haley, Kim publish in Journal of Advertising

Eric Haley, professor, and Sora Kim (Ph.D. ’08), assistant professor of public relations at DePaul University, published “Comparison of Paths from Consumer Involvement Types to Ad Responses between Corporate Advertising and Product Advertising,” in the most recent issue of the Journal of Advertising.
