Advertising and Public Relations
The School of Advertising and Public Relations represents two of the most popular majors on campus. The school has approximately 350 undergraduate students, equally divided between the two disciplines, and more than 30 master’s and doctoral students.
The school has 13 full-time faculty members and is internationally recognized for its excellence in education and research. Separate curriculums are maintained for advertising and for public relations students.

Doctoral Students Earn CERC Certification
Public Relations doctoral students Karen Freberg and Tatjana Hocke underwent training at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week in Atlanta to become certified in Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication (CERC). The program was developed by the CDC and is used to train risk communicators and public health officials across the country.

PR Professors Part of National Communication Association Conference
Assistant Professors Michael Palenchar and Karen Hilyard are part of a pre-conference workshop on the intersection of risk and crisis communication in relationships at the National Communication Association conference in Chicago next week. Michael and Karen will be leading a breakout workshop on the role of public relations’ research in relationship to risk and crisis communication.
